The 50th Annual Shrimp Festival is only a few days away! You'll enjoy entertainment, art, shopping, and, of course, loads of yummy food! But don't be overwhelmed by all of the options available to you! We are here to give you the local's guide to Shrimp Fest with lots of tips for an amazing weekend!
When it comes to shopping, we suggest going on Thursday when the crowds are small and scoping out which art booths you are most interested in. Then, go back on Sunday to make your purchases! Crowds are at their lowest on Sunday, and sometimes artists are even willing to cut you a deal to sell their products before the end of the festival. As far as music goes, you'll want to check out the festival schedule and music lineup to ensure you don't miss any of your favorite bands!
The very first thing you will want to do when arriving at the Shrimp Festival is walk over to Rockin Rogers and get yourself a cajun pistol! This culinary delight will be the highlight of your festival food experience. Cajun Pistols vary depending on who is making them - but essentially, they are a cheese and crawfish stuffed beignet with spicy sauce. These WILL definitely sell out! Get them while you can - it's totally worth it, we promise!
One of the things many people forget at the Shrimp Festival is sunscreen. Don't forget to reapply, too! We still experience summer-like temps in October, so you'll want to stay protected and hydrated!
Don't worry about parking! There are shuttles running from many pickup locations, and they only cost $5 per person for an all-day pass. They run approximately every 15 minutes at each location. There is also a weekend transit pass available!
Be sure to check out our Area Guide for more of our favorite things to do in our beach town while you are here. Are you staying with Liquid Life for this year's festival weekend? We can't wait to see you!
